Restored Vestibule Windows with Secondary Glazing, Aberdeen

When the owners of this lovely property in the West End of Aberdeen discovered dry rot in their porch, they were forced to strip out their floor and walls in order to stop it spreading. Although they had to lift the existing tiled floor, they were keen to retain the stained glass. We removed the windows prior to renovations starting, stripped them out and resized them to fit the new timber frames.

The interior of the new timber frame was fitted with a hinged double glazed secondary panel. This solution retains the traditional street frontage of the panels, but still provides a cheap and efficient insulation solution in a low profile form. We'd recommend this method over stained glass encapsulation as support bars can be still be fitted, and access to the panels for cleaning is possible.

If you are looking to insulate stained glass or single glazed sash and case windows these internal frames can be sized to fit and installed without any alterations to existing window surrounds.
