Happy belated Earth Day

Some of the 50 Ways to help the planet
The folks at Wire & Twine have put together a list of 50 simple things everyone can do to help the panet in response to last week's Earth Day. As well as trying to act responsibly as citizens in our daily lives, at Morning Glass we also try our best to minimise the environmental impact of our operations. Here's a list of the actions we take at the workshops...
New work added to Portfolios

I have now updated the image galleries to reflect more recent work. Click here to see the new galleries.
It's not all hard work you know...

Not at the weekends, certainly... (Photograph: Colin Sanderson)
Spring skiing in Scotland this year has been remarkable. Last weekend we took a wee tour up the side of Cairngorm and back down towards the Loch Avon basin. More photo's here and here.

New Work Installed - Huntly Arms Gazebo

The Huntly Arms Gazebo is a B-Listed wooden structure in the grounds of the Huntly Arms Hotel, Aboyne. Michael Zappert had replaced the windows a few years back, but they had been badly vandalised and needed completely remaking. We remade the panels at my workshops earlier in the year, and today was installation day. The image above shows a series of reflections through two panels of the octagonal structure, before the wire guards were installed. The image below shows the windows, in-situ.
Portlethen Church

While discussing a potential commission at Portlethen Church today the Property Convenor, Bill Hutcheon, showed mne the existing stained glass in the east gable, which overlooks the sea. The window was installed in 1940, and contains a crucifixion scene. The background, however, is full of small details, including this tiny fishing boat which reflects the close ties the village has with the sea.
St Clement's, Mastrick

Detail of lancet panel, St Clement's Church, Mastrick.
Back to work yesterday, to see a church in Aberdeen which is about to be renovated. Five windows, salvaged from old St Clement's Church and remounted in quarries, are to be removed for storage during the renovation works.
