I have been going through my photographs, looking for work which might be good to screenprint onto glass. I found a whole series of images of trees which I hope to work into a series of smaller wall pieces... (Click here to see some of the others). 

Every year I moan like crazy that I never have enough time to produce new work for exhibitions like Art Aboyne. And every year, without fail, I start making with three days to go... So this year, even though it seems like months away, I decided to make an early start. Pictured above - enamel colour tests on Spectrum System 96 Clear and White Opal.

Paula, from the Woodend Barn evening class, spent today at the workshop finishing off her first panel. Not bad huh...

The popular Stained Glass evening class now underway at Woodend Barn will start again in September this year. Enrolment will be through Woodend Barn, so stay tuned to their website for further details. The format will be the same as this session, (e.g. 10 weeks) with classes starting 23rd September (no class 14/10 and 21/10) and running until December 9th.
 

Spring skiing in Scotland this year has been remarkable. Last weekend we took a wee tour up the side of Cairngorm and back down towards the Loch Avon basin. More photo's here and here.

The Huntly Arms Gazebo is a B-Listed wooden structure in the grounds of the Huntly Arms Hotel, Aboyne. Michael Zappert had replaced the windows a few years back, but they had been badly vandalised and needed completely remaking. We remade the panels at my workshops earlier in the year, and today was installation day. The image above shows a series of reflections through two panels of the octagonal structure, before the wire guards were installed. The image below shows the windows, in-situ.

While discussing a potential commission at Portlethen Church today the Property Convenor, Bill Hutcheon, showed mne the existing stained glass in the east gable, which overlooks the sea. The window was installed in 1940, and contains a crucifixion scene. The background, however, is full of small details, including this tiny fishing boat which reflects the close ties the village has with the sea.
