Opaque Glass Transom Light, Aberdeen

This transom light in the West End of Aberdeen is a particular favourite, and one we get asked about a lot.

The client requested a window to match their Victorian tiled floor. We don't often use opaque glass in our work, but the colours of the tiles made for a very satisfying palette. To allow for some light to pass through internally, we used a mix of fusible smooth white Spectrum glass and thin Bullseye fusible glass, mixed with textured clear. The leadlines picked up on the geometric pattern of the tiles.

To finish off the panel, the number was reverse gilded in 23.5ct gold leaf on 2mm float glass with a textured clear backer.
